    Hello Ourania,

I hope your father is soon better.

This is such a simple concept with a huge impact.
You are right, shadows are not always truly reflective of what you see.
    Well seen and well collected.

    Have a good w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Nicolas,

I just love how the long shadows spread across the green lawns, helping to define the undulations and the rough areas.
Your composition is exquisite, from the bunker in the bottom r/h corner, along a diagonal to the lake.
    Excellent clarity.

    Have a lovely day,

    Hello Stephen,

It certainly looks like a GRAND hotel from this attractive, flower adorned façade.
I like how you have composed the shot, so that the angle of the building sits nicely on the thirds line, defining a more important and a less important route of exploration.
Good, sharp details and fine colours on this beautiful, sunny day.

    Have a great w/e,

    Hello Maciej,

This looks as if would have been a very effective protection entrance to the city.
Your viewpoint creates a fine sense of depth from the converging lines of the walls, adding importance to the focal building.
It was a beautiful day for your photograph, where you have captured rich colours and sharp details.

    Hello Daniel,

You have created a fine impression of the interior of the palace. From my experience of castles, this doesn't seem to have grandeur beyond its station.

Your composition creates a fine sense of depth and perspective.
You have coped admirably with the difficult task of an interior shot.

    Hello Malgo,

Thank you for the lovely postcard and the link. It's hard to imagine so many people squashed into the square to watch the race. Wow, it must have been full of atmosphere!

I like your more serene mood, personally. You have done a fine job of moving from the shadows into the sunlight of the city. The tower of the Duomo makes a great focal point to guide us into the m/g.

    Have a lovely w/e,

    Hello Bulent,

This is such an amazing place.
It is no surprise that the ancient people tried to find an explanation for its presence!

We normally see the hexagonal patterns from above but you have taken a completely different approach and given a whole new impression. They look like Nature's pillars!

As you say, the only real downside is that there is nothing to add scale but, despite that, this is a very well composed and executed photograph.

Have a good day, Bev :-)

    Hi Olga,
This is a beautiful building and your photo does it great justice. Imposing towers, dark and gloomy set against that vivid, bright and active sky. The boats and river are excellent foreground and the tree on the right is a great frame. Really nicely seen.
    Best wishes

    Ciao Caro Carlo,

Who could resist this field of blue lavender! I can even detect some bees collecting pollen and nectar and can imagine the constant buzz that must have been audible, here.
It's a fine composition of f/g flowers, with the hilltop city of Siena strongly placed in the b/g, helping to create a great context for your photograph.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Mariusz,

    This is an amazing sight!

I can understand how they could be mistaken for penguins though, as you say, there are no penguins in the northern hemisphere, apart from in zoos!
This is what you call close nesting!
It's to be hoped that you get on with your neighbours!
I wonder if they ever make a mistake, finding their own nest, when they return with food!

It's a very good example of wildlife photography.
The birds and their environment have been extremely well captured. I like your thirds composition, with the birds, outlined at the top of the rocks, standing out so well against the blue sky.

I would imagine that the noise is raucous!

Have a great day and thank you for sharing this,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Krzysztof,

Your photograph uses a fine viewpoint, using the converging lines of canal? to create a sense of depth and perspective. The reflections are superb, magnifying the colours, with only the ripples from the duck, preventing them from being a mirror image!

    Bonjour Christian,

Another beautiful photograph of the entrance to La Rochelle harbour. You have positioned yourself perfectly to create a diagonal from the entrance wall but, also, creating a guide line, into the harbour, on an opposing diagonal. It's a fine composition!
The details make an interesting subject and are finely captured.
The number of people on the quayside speak of the popularity of the city as well as explaining scale.

    Have a lovely day,

You haven't treated us to your expert butterfly shots for quite a while.

This demonstrates all your fine skills at such a shot.

    Hello Noel,

It is only when you read lots of notes and see associated pictures that you realise how important monasteries were for the establishment of towns.

You have chosen a strong aspect for your photograph, including the river bank to anchor the f/g, the river as a diagonal guide, all in preparation for the focal castle, which is silhouetted very effectively against the strong sun.
You have such a skill with this type of shot. I don't know how you don't get lens flare!!!

    Have a lovely day,

    Hello Ike,

You have spoken to me of the lack of high or low tide, in your experience, but there is definitely a strong force at work, here, keeping these mooring ropes so tight, creating this strong, repeating pattern of diagonals.
You have cropped the scene sensitively, making sure that the prows of the moored boats follow the thirds rule, for a strong composition.

If you visit Bath on a warm sunny day, it is a delight to explore.

This was a difficult shot, not only because of the subject but because of the light differentials but you have coped extremely well.
