    Hello Daniel,

Yes, bikes and Amsterdam go hand in hand!
To have them as the f/g for your photograph seems most appropriate.
They help to create the 'busy' atmosphere as well as a horizontal thirds in your composition.
It's a scene full of activity before the viewers reach the imposing building of the palace.
I don't know if you are familiar with paintings by L.S. Lowry but this reminds me very much of the busy scenes he recorded in Manchester.

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Luis,

THis is a wild and beautiful landscape, from the rocky f/g to the line of distant, snow=sprinkled mountains.
The pink sky adds a sense of a different world, maybe a moonscape!
What better way to emphasise the wildness by sharing the scene with an animal!

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Stephen,

Like on many of the photographs I have taken this summer, you seem to have a blown out sky. I have become much more empathetic about such photographs, considering the quality of the scene and the composition, we cannot legislate for the weather.
There is much to like about this shot, the acute angle shows many of the buildings from your photograph, yesterday, with their colourful shutters and strings of flags. From this view, you have created a fine sense of perspective.
The patterned pavement adds texture and artistry, whilst the figures bring the scene to life.
I see one young lady must have perceived you as magazine photographer ... she is certainly posing!

    Have a great day,
    Bev :-)

    Hola Luis,

These three buildings area very different in colours and styles but in your fine composition, you have cropped them so that they fit nicely together, and there contrasts and similarities can be calmly viewed. Your composition of thirds works really well.
    Colours and sharpness are excellent,

    My warm regards,

    Hello Jean,

This is such a colourful and prominent feature and makes a great focal point, looking out over the sea. I have photographed it, a few years ago, showing all its colours but never with these fine details of its environment. You have shown how it sits on the Hoe with close features for balance and views over the sea for depth.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Chris,

I must say, I enjoyed Herculaneum even more then Pompeii, which was difficult to achieve! I found it both interesting and moving, when you consider what happened to so many unsuspecting citizens.

It is clear from your photograph that Herculaneum would have been a very beautiful and sophisticated city.
I like how you show its relationship with the modern city!

    My warm regards,

    Ciao Caro Carlo,

    I miei calorosi saluti,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Rob,

    This was a tough decision!
I like this but I like the full screen view of the man wearing the shoes even better!
I presume he is taking a photograph but with bent legs and close scrutiny he looks to be examining the picture in close detail. He just looks so amusing!
Your photographs are all sharp and colourful, in the mood for the Summer of Love!

This is an unusual colour for a bridge but it does make the bridge look attractive; it stands out well as a diagonal across the frame, linking together the two red-roofed features.

    Ciao Caro Silvio,

I don't think that I have ever seen an Italian town look more like a seaside resort!
Your view, inwards from the inviting aqua-green sea, captures the character of sunbathing and parasols; it looks glorious!
The houses, all closely grouped, look as if they are looking out to sea, envying the holidaymakers.

The curve of the beach works really well, drawing the viewers round the enire frame.

    Ciao Bev :-)

    Hello Jean,

It's great fun watching Morris Dancers with their colourful costumes and listening to their jingling bells. They used to perform regularly in our town and at nearby Haworth but they have become less and less frequent.
Your photograph lines the dancers nicely and clearly records the implements and some instruments that they use.
    You set the scene well.

I wonder what other nationalities would think of these dances and dancers; they are a long way from the 'stiff upper lip' characters.

    Have a great Sunday,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Philippe,

This photograph encaptures lots of our favourite parts of summer.
It is sunny, warm and peaceful, there is water for freshness and reflections and a lovely tranquil environment into which we can relax.
A perfect scene to advertise the beauty of this region of France.
I like how well you have used the river and its embankment as useful guides.

    Hello Stephen,

This looks much better full size, particularly on Beta, than it does in the thumbnails.
The strings of the pennants seem to radiate outwards in a very 3D way, followed, to a slightly lesser degree by the window shutters.
It's an unusual angle but very pleasing visually.
The bright colours are the icing on the cake.

    Have a great Sunday,

    Hello Paul,

I love the colours, the patterns and the decorations of these hill-tribe people.
They are links to native peoples around the world.
It must take hours of work; I wonder how well they are paid for their produce!
This is a great close-up of the two 'youngsters'. The details of expression and clothing are very well captured, with vivid colours.

I'm curious as to why you had a photograph withdrawn.
It doesn't seem to be happening as often, these days.

    Hello Ike,

It's so interesting to see buildings from long ago, to consider their purpose and the way of life of the people.
It was a good place, right on the beach next to the sea, that is, of course, as long as no-one was attacking!
It's a very well composed photograph regarding the rule of thirds, and also, captures clear details of the textures of the sand, the beach grasses and the stones.

    Have a lovely Sunday,

    Hello Gert,

This is a splendid photograph, not just because of the intriguing narrative that it provides but also, because it is so wonderfully sharp, especially when you consider the f/g figures are moving rapidly. It looks amazing on Beta!
    Ih, the man looks sinister!
It reminds me of the tales my Romanian friend told me about her country during the time of Nicolae Ceaușescu!
With the crop, you have created a very well composed shot with all the ingredients for the introduction of a spy film.

Another fine building which looks to be in need of some loving restoration! It has a lovely situation amongst the trees and is fronted by a large lawned area. Surely it would be worthwhile restoring the house!
You have captured the building with excellent clarity.
