    Hello Noel
What wonderful framing and pov that bring out the dynamism of the sculpture in the best possible way! Excellent choice of monochrome with the darker areas (imo) enhancing the overall visual impact even if some detail is lost. Great camera work and thanks for sharing it. Have a great day.

    Hello Krzysztof,

    A lovely photograph!
You had a beautiful day for this photograph, so the blue sky makes a fine backcloth against which the black and white of the church stands out very well. It is crisp and detailed.
You have used a nicely angled approach.
The trees add a natural frame, whilst the red roofed houses help to promote a sense of depth.

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Brenda,

I'm glad you explained the building differences in your notes, for I thought it was a combination of two shots. Even the graffiti abides by the change in bricks! It does make an interesting photograph because of these changes.
I'm one of those people who doesn't agree with the defacement of buildings by graffiti. I have seen lovely historical buildings spoiled by people just writing their names in different styles. However, I can see a point in dedicating walls to this art form so that all have a chance to express themselves.
A now famous graffiti artist, in England, called Banksy, is revered and his works command extremely high prices.

    Have a good day,
    Bev :-)

    Hi Christiane
Such a lovely view of the old town with fine perspective and depth. I liked the sculptures on the street but found the traditional houses and the tower equally attractive. You managed the light very well and we are able to see the details in every part of the picture. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

    Hello Piotr,

It is a beautiful location and appears quite isolated. The rocky surround and scree slopes remind me so much of the tarns in the Lake District.
I can understand why it is called the Green Pond.
Although the figure is not posing, his presence adds a focal point and a sense of scale.

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for this in depth set of notes. You have convinced me that, despite the impression of mountainous climbing, shown by your photograph, the climbing would be within my capabilities!
The gorge is utterly breath-taking! You have really captured its steep precipitous nature. The subtle changes of light give a sense of depth, too, both horizontally and vertically.
The inclusion of the walkers certainly reveals the scale!

    Hello Jason,

Oh! I just have a feeling that I will be singing 'Lady in Red' all day. It has a wonderfully attractive melody just as this lady makes a wonderfully attractive shot. I am surprised that she hasn't noticed your presence and photographic intention!

If you had wanted to set up a photo-shoot, you would have been hard pressed to compose it any better, unless, of course you wanted her aware of the camera! The colour contrasts, the lighting, the abundance of textures, the leads, the sense of perspective are all there, around this sharp and eye-catching focal lady!

Ha! Ha! The next iconic tourist attraction!!

    Hello Stephen,

I have taken photographs of this huge wheel but from quite a different angle. It was something I had not expected to see on Liverpool's docks!
I really like how you have sandwiched it between the red brick buildings, prefaced by the Mersey. It is possible to read Echo through its spokes, making a nice guide to the contrasting buildings.

    Merhaba Mesut,

I love the idea of a bicycle being chained up, high in the air, for security reasons! It would take a skilled mountain climber with bolt clippers to steal that!
The light is lovely, bringing out the warm colours and textures of the stones, and casting delicate shadows across the whole.

There are lots of bicycles, fastened to unusual places, all over North Yorkshire, in England. They are painted yellow and were placed to mark the auspicious route of the Tour de France, which began in England this year!

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hi Craig,

So, it would seem you've jumped in Gerts time machine for a ride back to the 60's...love and peace, ya' hippie! lol

Never been to Cuba as you know, but this picture sure does have that feel of a bygone era. Too bad that woman passing by in the foreground couldn't accommodate your vision here to recreate the decade. C'mon lady, wear the proper clothing to fit the scene...now let's take it from the top...take two...aaaand, go! :)

Contrary to the quaint old town type of streets that are much more "cozy,' this wide avenue and open space gives off an entirely new vibe to the city. We still get the old classic cars though, linking us back to your previous pics and the nostalgia of times.

A well layed out composition that takes us off into the distance. Neat to see how this contrasts with your most recent upload of Chicago, a completely different style.

Alright, here we go...one last round. Play ball! Should be a fun series, I'm pulling for the Royals...gotta' keep it with the American League. :) Have a good one amigo.

    Cheers from sunny PHX,

    Jason

    Privet Maria Elektrozavodskaya,

You know, it's amazing how engaging your Russia pictures have become since being there myself...but I guess that would only be normal, right? :) I liked them from the first view, but I know have a greater understanding of the visuals and people involved...and seeing a local woman dressed in this manner really has a strong impact in my minds eye. Your note made me laugh too, I'm sure there aren't any sitting around playing cards or out golfing...what a sight that would be, yeah? lol

Just a day in the life of a hard working Russian woman, tending to her garden. Her brightly colored clothing sure stands out against the varying shades of green which fill the frame. A simple moment captured, but a telling look into the real side of life far from the big city. Молодцы, мои коллеги-русский переводчик. (works best in Google. jaja) Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.

    Cheers from sunny Q.C.,

Yes ma'am, Tony Gunk at your service. ;)

What an interesting mix you've come across here Brenda, your curiosity to investigate has paid off well. Had you not mentioned it, this could easily be mistaken for some Photoshop trickery...combining two completely different halves into a single frame. Don't believe I've ever seen such a distinct side-by-side construction, and to top it off you have two different colors of graffiti that break at the same point where the brick splits.

Perhaps not the most aesthetic of "art," but an intriguing collection none the less. As its said, All in the eye of the beholder." Happy to see a new pic posted. lol enjoy the rest of the evening. one last hurrah for the season...play ball! :) Take care. Let me know when you find Larry, would ya'? :))

    Bonjour Didi,

I like what you've done here with this compressed perspective, layering the different shapes of rooftops with the linear grouping of boat mast's. The blue and white colors in the harbor contrast nicely against the rustic tones of the houses and natural greenery of the hillside. A well planned arrangement with some beautiful sunlight to accent the entire visual. Have a great day. Take care.

    Hi John,

You say the weather was not excellent, hmmm...I see nothing wrong with it here...if I'm not mistaken, that's the sun shining over the canal?? :) The courthouse sure stands majestic over this section of town, and I really like how it fuses with the classic architecture in the background. Looks like a nice day for a boat ride, despite any dealings with cloudy skies, the people look to be enjoying themselves out standing on the boat as it passes by. Nicely timed to catch this little journey, and as always, a strong composition to enhance it all. Enjoy the new day ahead. Take good care.

Can't say I know much about cars, but I can sure appreciate their beauty...and this is certainly one that fits that bill! A classic in style and grace, with the luxury of four wheels. :) Although I'm not that "car guy," the front grill of this one sure looks like it would be fun to photograph.
