    Hello Noel,

Tuam seems such an unEnglish word.
I wondered if it was Gaelic!
However, on investigation, it appears that the word comes from the Latin 'tumulus'. The town's ancient name was Tuaim Dá Ghualann, i.e. the burial mound of two shoulders.
I like the way you have given it a symmetrical composition, especially with the double line of trees at its forefront, which act like a funnel, focussing attention on the main door. The photograph is nice and sharp, with fine colours. The appearance of lamps has given a warm glow to the shot.

    Kind regards,
    Bev :-)
Anyway, the cathedral is one beautiful building!

    Hello Olivier,

It has made a great bokeh!
The isolated tree appears like a star performer, crisp and clear against this unobtrusive, yet useful, b/g.
You have certainly revealed the arid nature of the land in this region!

    Kind regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Gerrit,

It's very much a boy thing, here, though girls would also be interested in the U.K. I remember the attention that was given to cycles and cyclists when the Tour de France began in Yorkshire, earlier this year; there were millions of people watching of both genders and all ages!
It's a lovely candid shot. Only one person appears to be aware of you so it's a truthful shot revealing their natural curiosity.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Serge,

Your photograph shows keen evidence of the power of the sea and how it can erode the land.
You have chosen a good viewpoint so that the wild flower banking has a strong visual impact, contrasting well with the island rock and, also, creating a fine sense of depth.
You have captured excellent details of the movement of the sea, too.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello John,

I had to laugh at your notes!
Len and his brother love golf but, as a spectator sport, it leaves me cold ... and misty!! Your photograph matches my attitude perfectly!

I like to see misty photographs. They have immediate atmosphere with which we can all identify. There is no doubting the atmosphere, here!
I love the symbolism, the beginning is clear but, then, it all gets a bit murky, hard to see and hard to understand!
There is good balance in the photograph and fine composition.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hi Craig,
Contrasty black and white treatment is excellent. And framing with just a slice of sky as well.
This could also almost show a snowfield. Maybe the appearance would just be less grainy and those wave patterns less likely to appear.

Beautiful sunset picture. I like the thin cloud layer in front of the sun, so that only the top edge shows as white. Red colour of the sky is really intense and makes good contrast with cool blue sea.

    Hello Alexandre,

You were brave not to pp this photograph and lighten the shadows. There are strong light contrasts and that is very natural when the sun is low. It is a nicely composed photograph.
The lady in blue trousers is like the star of the show, being sunlit, whilst the rest of the cast are silhouetted, in shadow.

    My warm regards,

    Hi Ann,
It is a stunning combination of open American landcape with mountain background and Northern cloudy and snowy weather. The red car is perfectly placed.
Your selective desaturation is absolutely believable, I wouldn't have noticed without reading the note.

    Hello Constantino,

    I like this!
My husband would tell you that I am constantly looking at reflections in large patches of water and smaller puddles, like this!
There is so much to see; not only do we notice the reflections and estimate the many yachts that must be moored, but, also, we see the textures and the colours of the path, the depth of the water and the shape of the puddle!

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hola Angel,

I am a great fan of bridges and this is a lovely, old example. It is nicely positioned in the frame so that there is interesting scenery above it and beautiful reflections below it.
My eyes are constantly drawn to the colourful reflections under the first archway; very attractive.

I guess almost every Norwegian town is between water and mountain. And that of course offers great viewpoints! Especially on bright summer sunshine like on this one.

    Ciao Caro Luciano,

You have given us a treat with this location! The railed walkway makes an excellent lead to the triple towers, standing tall and majestic against the grey sky.

Most people seem to approve of your pp but, I'm so sorry, I prefer to see the colours looking more natural. I love pp work when it is not obvious that it has been applied.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Ney,

This is a lovely location with the canals, the moored boats and the tall, canal-side buildings. You have chosen a good aspect, creating a strong f/g triangle, with the colourful boat strongly placed and fine leads to the b/g buildings. The details are amazingly sharp with fine, well saturated colours.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hi Omid,
A nice view of the land here, you capture a very nice sense of depth as we look once again to the beautiful mountains in the distance. Fine golden colors and the shadows in the foreground is great too.

One thing you might like to consider in shots like this is placing either the line of sky or the line of the corn on upper or lower thirds. It doesn't always work, but it's a nice way to play around with composition and sometimes can make a nice shot too.
    Best wishes

    Hi Brenda,
You really are the queen of reflections, this is brilliant. The scene behind with the tshirts is good, and shows a nice additional element to the enthusiasm of the figure, perhaps she lose it so much that's why she skip like this. But it's the reflection in the glasses that make it for me. I have to say, I actually prefer the workshop picture, buts that's just purely because I like that reflection so much. Thanks as always for sharing s unique view on the world.

    Hi Brian,
This is a fascinating ruin, I saw a tv show years ago about this place and thought how cool it could be to photograph, you show that yes indeed it is. The building is old and unloved but the angle you chose here still gives a brilliant sense of pride as it reaches way up into the sky. The way the white clouds fill the upper frame too also makes it seem like it is reaching miles, into another level of the atmosphere.
    Cheers
    Noel
