    Hello Claude,

An endearing photo with a clever choice of title. However... for a person who happens to be red-green color blinded, the brilliant red and green will appear as gradations of gray. Maybe that too is appropriate for a dark rainy day.

    Greetings Barbara,

You captured the flamingoes and in the extraordinary habitat created by the Houston Zoo. The colors are magnificent and the depth-of-field is perfect with both the birds and the tall grass in the foreground all very sharp.

    Hello Brenda,

I just returned from a lengthy jaunt to the Pacific, and found several new photos in your rich gallery of New York City. This is a gem that we should place in the group theme, City reflections.

    Have a wonderful, rejuvenating Sunday.

    Dear Malgorzata,

You captured the scene draped in mystery and mystique, but colorful and very interesting. The fog provides a spectacular veil for the background.

We just returned from a lengthy "working vacation," and will pick up posting again. But I did not see such interesting scenes, although I did see spectacular scenes in the South Island of New Zealand.

    Warmest regards,

    Hello Gert,

In first viewing the thumbnail image, I thought this might be Mt. Ararat. But certainly you are correct, this is considerably higher than the Ararat, soaring to merely 5165 meters. You had excellent light for the photo.

For the poor lighting I can feel your frustration, but I admire the manner in which you managed the light. The B&W is a good choice in presenting this ancient technique.

    Hello,

The brevity of our visit to Iceland made it impractical for me to see any power stations. The Icelanders have been extraordinarily resourceful in harnessing geothermal energy, and as a physicist, I am extraordinarily curious about the design of such plants. The color of the water, a turquoise blue-green appears inviting, but as you explain, local hot spots can be scaldingly hot. I found the similar effects last week while visiting Rotorua, New Zealand, where sulfur mud pools just look innocent... but are they ever deadly!

    Warm regards,

    Hello Andy,

You captured the scene by the late afternoon light, showing an extraordinary atmosphere of tranquility. I just returned from the South Island of New Zealand, almost diametrically opposite this spot on the globe, 12,800 km below. With the Northern Hemisphere descending into autumn, while the Southern Hemisphere welcoming spring the temperatures are about the same right now... but not too much longer.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Klavio,

After perusing your Persian Gallery, I was overwhelmed by the images and notes. This is a land I have never visited, but made my way to the border crossing exactly 30 years ago. I've been invited to give a talk there, but it is unlikely that I will be able to. The light management here is first rate, the subdued colors highlighted by the reflections in the mirror.

    Warm regards.

    Dear John,

The beautifully composed shot of Autumn would have been excellent even without the bike rider, but his presence makes it all the more interesting. He is perfectly placed at roughly 62% measured from the left (as you know, the golden ratio is 0.618).

I have been away for almost five weeks in California, Hawaii, Pacific Ocean and New Zealand. I will begin to post again.

    Hello Alexandre,

From the thumbnail image I thought this might be a scene from the Greek Island of Santorini. I've visited Montevideo, but did not get to Punta del Este. The structure is beautifully designed, and must have had considerable contribution from the artist, Carlos Paez Vilaro, himself.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Serghei,

I like this photo of the early the early 19th century canon. You apparently shot the photo about three weeks before we met in Pasadena last April. Having just returned from a month long jaunt in California, Hawaii, then a cruise to New Zealand, I have many photos to share, but it will take some time — perhaps ten years.

Incidentally, the beautiful jeep you made with pasta has an honored place on a shelf in the library downstairs. Have a good Sunday.

    Hello Stephen,

Your note desires the scene perfectly. The dog is the member of the trio who appears interested in the photographer. Indeed, it is a funny grouping, but why on earth are they hated this way, with the woman seated behind her husband, seemingly concentrating on her screened device.

    Greetings Paul,

The composition of this shot, with the intersection of the crests of a pair of hills rising in opposite direction, creates an eye capturing scene. The snow covered mountain the background adds a luminous backdrop. Thank you for sharing the photo along with a first rate note.
