    Bonjour Roland,

On Sept. 12 just a week ago, I think I saw this very Fish and Chips establishment. We were in Reykjavik for the day, and went to see the Golden Waterfalls and geiserfields, before driving around the city.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Bev,

It is an unusual photo for a landscape photographer, but one of excellent quality. It would have been fun to see the glass workers and how such creations come about.

    Have a good Sunday,

    Hello Lars,

A very good photo and note at a timely occasion. We just returned from a trip across the North Atlantic, and of course with BBC broadcasting on cabin televisions we were constantly immersed in the news of the upcoming referendum, and then the results. I was happy about the turnout and the results, although I imagine many were not. One thing that is clear, is that there was impressive civility, and democracy at work.

    Warm regards,

    Ciao Luciano,

I like very much the composition in this image from Mahdia. The cat is emblematic of the leisurely pace of life at least in this hamlet of North Africa, although it is largely in turmoil in so many other areas, e.g. Libya...Regards,

    Merhaba Murat Bey,

I think I know exactly where this photo was shot. A close friend, a physicist at the Technion (Haifa), and I had traversed the same path, emerging along the excavations around the great walled city. Great shot!

I just came back from a lengthy trip, and will post new photos soon. I did, however, post a photo from four years ago just before you uploaded this photo.

Hi Gerrit. I feel despair when I see images where the poor struggle to survive in places where water borne diseases are rampant and child mortality high. Parents try their hardest to escape such squalor but being poor and uneducated, their futures are sealed and those of their children. Yet, we can spend billions of dollars on wars. Nice of you to point out the care and thoughtfulness the family members are showing towards each other- if only governments would do the same. Regards. Klaudio.

Zdravo Malgo. Both Lenin and Ho went to the embalmer for further rejuvenation but I think the funds ran out. Enchanting place that speaks of many things: of former grandeur under the czars, the suffering under the Communists, the struggles for human dignity by the intelligentsia and of course of the element of orientalism in the Russian psyche. Great POV and interesting light. Pozdrawiam. Klaudio.

Hi Craig. I expect that now and then and possibly increasingly more often in places like Istanbul one will get this type of reaction and I can see why. The locals in certain locales must be soooo tired of tourists with their cameras as they try sip the coffee, walk across the street, talk to a friend... without some stranger putting them in the frame. And it happens day after day after day...The fact that every Craig, Klaudio, Deniz , Malgo has a camera must be too much to bear on some days. It would be for me if the roles were reversed. Still, if you hadn't taken the photo these people's existence wouldn't have become a point of discussion and interest and Istanbul's back streets would have been less known. Regards. Klaudio.

Salam Sayeed. Well, I am surprised that you too got the negative vibes and the ensuing reactions by the locals which are well captured in your note.I assumed it was a reaction reserved mainly for Caucasians. If only there were more smiles like this one which I carry in my memories of Morocco. Lovely moment, such warmth and on your part, perfect timing. One of the reasons for this negative attitude, I was told, is that those tourists who would have gone to Egypt are heading for Morocco instead and the locals are somewhat overwhelmed by the attention they are getting and by the intrusion into their daily lives.Regards. Klaudio.

Salam Farhat. The first thing i shall mention is the extra vivid frame. i think it competes with the subtle pastel colours of the image. The picture is beautiful enough without the yellow exclamation mark around it.But then it's all to do with personal taste. If I look past the frame, i feel at peace as i watch the sun set and the boat glide along the Hooghly River. Regards. Klaudio.
