I guess unlike you i like the 'truth' of flat grey northern days - not above all else of course - just the truth of taking shots in that light - it is another representation of how things are - but then I too like the contrast - generally if I can see some shadow detail and the highlights aren't burnt away too drastically - I really like this image - the sense of time and place and the miniscule dramas of human social interaction - the physical textures and the emotional textures ...it sings to me.....[+]

I like this image very much - the little details - even the man with the camera doesn't bother me - it adds a social context - the image works well in the square format but once again the tonal detail on the main subject's face lacks tonal definition in some way.
It looks to be a very interesting event.

I like the simple geometry and framing of this image which seems to echo something about the Noh performance itself - I would like to see a little more tonal definition in the highlights of the performer's face but a nice image nonetheless.

Beautifully shot Harry - the contrast emphasizes the subject and the scene extraordinarily well - a great composition - it puts me in mind of Holman Hunt's famous painting
.....but read how long it took him to get his image in the bag!

A really nice take on the 'tank' - I still haven't been up close to it yet or inside - I hope they are getting audiences - the new bridge should help - have you seen the advertising projections they are displaying on it.
Can I share these galleries with you Harry out of interest in Chongqing.

You have so nicely caught the relationship across the frame here Roberto...thanks again for showing us something of life and relationships between people in this country and of the importance of peaceful dialogue.

I really like this - I can hear the scene and smell the smoke from the boat......it just captures that little corner off Galata Bridge so well.....it has a feel for being an image which will stand a test of time in depicting Istanbul......

A perfectly placed cat....like your toning too! The cat brings such an interesting element to this picture - I can't quite say why but it really makes me think! That's a success...anything which makes me think these days deserves much praise!!

As always I appreciate your documentation of what takes place in London...I love the fullness of this image.....there is a message of humanity and hope even through the loss depicted here - and the woman's face is remarkable....an image which transcends the petty politics of the mess which is Israeli justice in relation to Palestine and takes us into the heart of humanity. Thank you for sharing this and deepening what can at times be a very superficial web site when it comes to learning about the world.
best wishes Kev
