Nice job capturing this scene w/o the mobs of tourists! I'd even suggest this one as a black and white. Yes, it's a grueling hike indeed... you feel terrible and only after you return home can you really smile about it!

The photo is indeed good. I too was approached for the baksheesh to take a photo or more if I wanted to take 5 photos. It's hard to know what to do in the moment - especially if you don't really know what's expected.

I took several moments and reflected as to why they didn't want photos taken here... there are some places in India that they don't want photos taken that I cannot understand, but at this site, I can understand. It's a very sacred and personal event.

For people that might have to consider this scenario in the future:

If the police see what you are doing, I've been told they'll come and the boys will vanish faster than monkeys making off shiny things & you'd be left to deal with them on your own. So for one reason (fear) or another (respect) - I'd refrain from taking the photos in the sacred places of India.

Clearly, many photographs that deserve merit do not fit inside the confines of what most people consider to be an attractive image.

I can see the merit behind using this very technical and unique lens... he's captured the larger world with this close up lens - which (I believe) would be nearly impossible in any other circumstance, but by using the water, he's refocused / repurposed the narrow scope of this lens.

well put & I know what you mean - sometimes a photo that isn't 'perfect' - ie - obscured in this case actually adds to your point of the masses ignorning the children/people of Cambodia, who are in fact among the nicest people I've ever come across in my travels. Today is also the Cambodian New Year...

That's a great photograph... I like how the shadow of the tree merges with the squirrel - sort of ominous (I've been attacked and bitten repeated by a squirrel many years ago). It was a bad scene.

Very well done... you've done an excellent job capturing the feeling of this place. Don't let the lack of recognition from the masses thwart you... 3534 views and 6 points? Perhaps, this place only appeals to the sentiments of those who have either been there or understand it.
