Penguins? by mkamionka (31981)

You're my next-door neighbour today! And yes, I thought I was looking at a photograph of penguins at first. Last year I spent some time on Lindisfarne, and could see the Farne Islands in the distance, but never made it that far. But I have photographed puffins in the Scilly Islands...

I was standing on the same bridge just two weeks ago! We had sailed into the Venetian lagoon, and amazingly found a free mooring for the night just at the end of this very canal. It looks as though in April, Burano isn't too busy. In June it was certainly buzzing during the day, but we were living on the boat, and were pleasantly surprised by how quiet the place was in the evening when all the tourists had gone back to Venice and their cruise liners... Nice work.

Drama here in bucketloads. Your note about the gale, and the waves makes me wonder if your camera survived the ordeal. I know you did, as you've posted this! I love the faint suggestions of green in the waves. Brave shot!

Without the mother and son, placed cunning near the thirds position, this wouldn't be half the shot it is. Although the flowers themselves are indeed beautiful, the inclusion of the figures is the vital element in the composition. Good work.

Reflections always make for intriguing images, and this photograph certainly proves that. On second thoughts, I'm probably wrong, as no-one else had seen it! Why are TE punters generally so blinkered??

A backstreet in Athens, but nobody's to be seen! Perhaps they're all indoors watching television about the Euro-crisis. I'm sure we're all worried for them. Your photograph is a nice piece of street observation: without the graffiti it would not be so interesting!

Nice bit of street observation. The graffiti make the shot, but don't interest the two boys playing. I can't make out what they're doing: is it a ball game? I can't see a ball. Your title is presumably a reference to the song by Bill Withers (I had to look that up!)

Red and green! A potent and contrasty combination. I'm intrigued by the covered faces. Are they Hindus, or as they're near the Pakistan border, maybe Muslim (which would explain it)? Or is it to ward off flies perhaps? Anyway, another excellent documentary photograph.
