incredibile prospettiva e superbo grandangolo - il risultato e', come ha gia' detto qualcuno, surreale, non da ultimo per la presenza dei due passeggeri solitari e per lo spazio vuoto davanti a loro.
bella foto davvero :)
buon fine settimana,
Amsterdam windmill, 4/1980 by ikeharel (43975)

it's the first time I see this windmill on TE and the first time I see how this area looked 30 years ago... very interesting for me because I leave 5 minutes from it and because the area looks quite different now. The windmill hosts now one of the best micro-breweries in Amsterdam, Het Ij, the "eetcafe" you see next to the windmill is now a lot more fashionable and has a terrace, and all around old houses (including the ones you see on the right) have been torn down to make room for new apartments and flats.
yet the area is one of the nicest in Amsterdam because of its multicultural atmosphere and lively neighbourhood.
thanks for sharing this photo - if I have it, I will publish a picture of how the area looks today :)

I was browsing your beautiful gallery and I was riveted by this shot - the colours and the light are quintessentially summery, as a matter of fact they could be the perfect moodboard for one of those interior design magazines which I keep buying every month :)
this is the kind of picture that creates the desire to be there, to be flooded by the same light, to get entangled in the same nets... gorgeous :)

good evening subhendu,
I was going through your interesting gallery and this photo made me linger longer than the others for a simple reason: it sums up all I love about photography: the capture of natural light, the freezing of the moment, the use of natural elements to frame and compose, strong contrast...
it also reminds me of a photo I took in India on one of my business trips - it was late afternoon and there was a couple cast against the warm light and the trees... :)

it is really an interesting angle - I have been to Barcelona and to la Pedrera so many times that it's actually hard to see both with fresh eyes... but you did a great job, not only with the composition but also with the b/w conversion and the texture.
Definitely my kind of photography - and you even paired it with my favourite band from the 80's !
One Man and his Dog by Ricx (13489)

what a beautiful picture of a man and his (very affectionate) dog! the dog's pose is truly endearing, and though I am no dog person myself (having spent all of my life with cats), I love his expression and the way he leans towards his master. the man's smile completes the atmosphere of a true bond between the two.

it's interesting how the light comes from the left and the man's eyes follow that trajectory, looking into the right, into the shadow. we read the photo form left to right, guided by the natural light.
I like the quiet atmosphere here, enhanced by the very harmonious colours, a whole palette of warm tones which soothe the eye of the viewer.
I remember reaching Marrakech on a hot day in May, after a cold stop in a village on the mountains, and being hit by the noise of the traffic... no signs here of that of course :)
have a nice weekend,

good morning rosemary,
ELO is one of those bands I tend to go back to every time my daily trip to work gets too gray and glum... all those strings arrangements and perfect choruses lift my spirits up every time :)
Winter has just started here in Europe and I already can't stand anymore the 256 shades of gray of the Dutch skies... so your happy combination of blue and purple is a welcome moment of relief!
have a good weekend!
In the Light by Juzo (4284)

and speaking about light... I was writing in a comment yesterday that we cannot really influence the light in a photo, it's more a gift that it's handed to us and that we have to be quick to accept - and this is a nice example of it. we have parts in good light, parts hidden by shadows, and interesting bits in between :)
I agree with your choice for colour here, only a radical PP would have created an extended tonal range here and I prefer the way you kept it.

I was about to say "238 hits and no comments" etc. :)
anyway - I love steam in photography, I think it's one of those elements that creates, literally, the mood of a place and of a moment. I remember a picture on these pages taken under a bridge in Japan, in a tiny eatery, full of steam coming from the ramen pots, that was basically more a hint than a real description of a scene... and yet it was in that hint that lay the power of the image.
I love the way the light hits the steam here but maybe I would have moved a few inches to the left to blind it a bit with the hat..? I don't know, just an idea :)
