Philippe: The diagonal perspective works really well to bring out the repeating patterns and lines of the structure. The contrast of three colours is also fantastic, but what really makes this even more dramatic and surprising are the clouds in the middle column. Truly amazing composition!

Prantik,
This is really strong documentation of the toiling workers. The rays of light filtering through the windows and shining on the workers, combined with the industrial fan and the gazillion sacks, make this an impressive photo!

Jack,
This is a really stunning landscape! I like the composition, particularly the placement of the silky smooth clouds in the centre. The slight hint of red also makes this dramatic; this feels like how paradise may look like.

Les enfants Africains sont tres adorables. J'aime les expressions naturels de ces petit amis, en particulier ceux du garcon a droite.
Although an otherwise good portrait, it would look even better to include all of the middle guy's fingers into the frame to make the portrait look more complete.

Jan,
This is simply a stunning portrait. The vibrant colours of the beadwork and shawl really pop out, while the wrinkles and pouting expression make the person an intriguing subject. The tonal range is also pretty good, although there are some areas (the forehead and beads) that are slightly overexposed probably due to the harsh sun in Africa. A little burning would do.

JeanPaul,
I quite like the angle you've used to capture this candid moment, and there is a lot of cultural interest here particularly the "Chitrali hat" (I'm not sure what it's called in Afghanistan, but this is what it's called in the Pathan part of Pakistan) that tells you straight away where this was taken. I would, however, like to add that perhaps a black/white conversion could make it even more dramatic since the tonal range here looks pretty good. Also, a little more inclusion of the cap in the frame would make it look even more complete.
Best,
Andy

Hey Mankeung! I saw your photo, and thought this might be the guy I'd run into time after time in Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia! I'm Andy, from Taiwan. So where are you and Sochun now? Are you still on the road, or have you finished and gone back to HKG? Miss you both! You must have had loads of stories to tell; love to see more of your photo stories!

wonderful portrait. i love the perspective that captures the four men in a photojournalistic style. the folds of the turbans and jalabiya are fascinating, but what really make this special are their somewhat sad expressions. i guess they were never used to taking photos, so decided to get it their best shot by looking all serious....i've seen this happen before!

This is a really dramatic view of the Castle (plus, I've been there!). I love how you've creatively put the four elements together in the composition: the trees, the sky, the castle and the rock are positioned in a way that adds loads of drama to this ferrytale like ancient site. Well done!
