Great to hear from you, and to see your Laos shots (have not started to post mine yet). Like this picture: the colors are very rich and the exposure perfect (the kids come out just dark enough). I would have cropped more (I like what Thong did) to eliminate the boat on the left and the one on the right: this would focus attention on the kids and the sunset (maybe a vertical crop would even work here, with the kids nicely on the bottom left and the sun/sky taking most of the picture frame).
I am off to China tomorrow... will post some Laos pix when I return.

Amazing that you could be thinking about pictures at such a time... I guess the light was difficult to work with, but you might have had better success with your composition by putting your camera lower and closer to the guns (so that they would have appeared higher against the sky).
