Hello Colin
At first I saw this photo as a thumb through one of your other photos. And I must admit it looked very interesting and I warranted it a visit.
But I must admit, getting the full view sort of dissappointed me.
The thumb has a very clean crisp look to it. It had sharp colours in the sky and a very pleasing contrast between the torii and the sky.
The only thing that I feel was transferred perfectly is the composition. It looks clean and it puts the viewer right into the scene.
I do however feel that the great colours are lost between the thumb version and the full view. It might be possible to save the great impression with some adjustment of the contrast and a little bit of colour saturation.
I might give it a go with a workshop when I get home, you'll just have to wait and see.
Overall though, I would like to give you two points for great scene and composition.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow, this sure brings back memories...
To actually just see a scene and instantly feel that I've been there... that has to count for something.
I find the overall scene to be somewhat cluttered, but I guess that is part of what makes this photo special. Tokyo is well known to be a crowded and cluttered space.
The quality of the shot is what suprizes me. Very nice angle of the light, it really sneaks into every crevasse of the photo and light everything up beautifully.
But perhaps that is also what makes the photo slightly bad too. The light is a little unwelcome on some of the surfaces, overexposing those areas and genereally giving them some slighty negative attention.
However... overall I find the scene to be a very welcomed one, especially since I rememberthis place very good.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Giuseppe
Why oh why didn't I notice this lighthouse after I spent two weeks in Olbia!?
Magnificent photo, the scene almost seems perfect in every aspect. Maybe a bit lack of focus and a little grain is all I can comment about, because overall everything else is perfect.
Composition is perfect to show off the magnificent lighthouse. The rays of light do look a little "articifial", but having been here myself I have seen what is possible so I woulden't wave them off as fake just by one photo.
Nice work.

Hello Brad
Now this is what I call a great photo.
The only thing that would bother me is the relative low POV looking down. Why down?
Why not point the camera slightly higher and get more of the great sky?
I can understand that the footprints in the sand are a one aspect to the photo, but the grey tonme of teh sand just seems to overtone the magnificent colours of the sunset.
Still... full credit to you for great spotting and an excellent location.

Hello Peter
Thank you for sharing such a great photo and a subject that seems to affect us all.
About the photo first. The choice of composition, POV and general idea behind the photo is excellent. The two ships do interfere with eachother slightly, but this is only a slight matter. Overall the great post processing preserves the colours and the almost dark nature of the subject in the note.
Overall, an excellent photo.

Hello Shailesh
Having been in Asakusa myself I find this photo to be something almost special to me.
I like how well the lens warps the view and brings everything into the frame. The bulb-ish shape it gives to the gateway is excellent.
I do however feel the colourtint of the photo is a bit too dominant. I feel the red and yellow of the structire float out and stain the rest of the photo. Also I feel the focus is slightly off.

Boeing heaven indeed! :)
I count myself as a plane fanatic so I find this photo very pleasing.
I think the photo is somewhat "cut-off" by the limited focal length of the lens, but all in all it works to put the attention in the right place.
The quality looks good, but I somehow feel that the whites of the photo is abit blown out. I get this impression that is a slight halo around them. Might be because of the glass if you shot through a window or it might be something else.
One technical question though...
Did the f4 version of the EF70-200 work good for you? I mean, was the aperture enough for regular daylight photos?

Hello Adrian
Truly magnificent. Seing Fuji-san like this reminds me exactly of how I first experienced it. I was travelling past it on my way to Kyoto last May, but unfortunantly I was too overcome with a long flight and jet-lag to actually manage to bring my camera to bear...
But then I find this... and I feel I've been to the location again. Thank you ! :)
Overall the photo looks to be of good quality. Maybe abit lacking in colours to bring the full splendour of Fuji, but with the distance in mind I can understand why it is so.
If anything was to be improved I would suggest a little more contrast.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Miyazaki-san
I find this scene to one of particular beauty.
Everything in this photo points to a perfect photo, the composition, the way the photo guides the viewer and ofcourse the magnificent view of the sakura.
Some factors might improve the photo though. Maybe having the people walking the path closer to the camera and maybe also a slightly shorter exposure to avoid the slight burning in this photo (ref. the walkpath and some of the upper sakura.)
Thank you very much for sharing.

Hello Thierry
Finally a well thought through photo today!
Ok, I have to admit that simply a photo of a few trees doesn't exactly impress me, but with this photo you have made sure to blend the overexposed sky of the photo with the white frame and it is that combination that really makes this photo into something really out of the ordinary.
Ok, so the colours might look a little dull, there might be a slight lack of contrast...but it doesn't matter!
Here you show us the correct way of blending together the (propably unintended) overexposure of the sky with a simple frame to make a really stunning photo.
Ofcourse there might be more to do with the photo like having the trees blend off to the sides and so on, but that would be more heavy postprocessing and would propably remove the "photo" feeling behind the photo.
You've done well, besides two years is not a long time on a site like TE. Keep up the great work!
