The colors are fine, the composition not so much too my mind

It is very difficult to make macro photography without a macro lens !!

There is a empty space at the left that is weird... and the main subject is right in the middle of the image (where there is your camera focus sensor !)
You should perhaps do the focus then reframe....?

Exceptional colours and good use of silhouette in the foreground to deliver an eye-catching image. I think you could perhaps improve the overall composition by cropping to a square format to get rid of the branches on the right hand side, without losing any of the beautiful shades and shapes in the sky.

the idea was good but the vertical pole divide your shot in 2 and we cannot see correctly the boy smiling because you took mainly his back.
you should have stepped at right and include the shoes and the face of the boy, as he was OK for the picture.

A nice attempt here. But I would have really wanted to see the results if you have taken it from the front. I guess that way you would have got great results.
