Very interesting place....there are circles like it left in Europe and Britain....but many that were made of timber have disappeared. Magical places indeed.

Watch that last step! Exciting photo, David. Love it. The grin on the climbers face adds a twist of humour...I am thinking "is he a madman or what?" and wish I was him...(lol) Nice use of perspective...dizzying and fun.

Beautiful shot, Alford. Well composed and good technique. I was going to take a workshop for shooting waterfalls but money is short and so is my time, so did not do it. You really have improved tremendously since you first came to TE. My time is very limited on TE and my other sites these days due to my busy family life but I still get out occasionally when I can and take photos.Great shot once again. You will be selling photos to tourism companies in no time, and making a living as a photographer I have no doubt. Well done.

Beautiful shot,Tan. I love this one. Just because it really captures the area on a sunny day....and I should know...my wifes family own a hotel in Killybegs so we visit regularly. Your polariser seems to have done the trick in reducing glare and excessive reflection. The tradition of St. Catherine...if you are interested comes from the time of the monks arriving in the area. Their arrival actually PREDATES Saint Patrick. They were travelling from France around the north coast of Ireland looking for a new site to settle and were caught up in a terrible storm which placed their small boat in grave danger. they prayed to St. Catherine of Alexandria (a favourite of Coptic monks who travelled by sea)to deliver them from danger, and vowed to dedicate a well and build a church to her if she did. Sure enough, they arrived safely in the sheltered harbour of what is now Killybegs, and they kept their word. The ruins of an old possibly medieval church (which is built on an older site)are still present near the mouth of the harbour up on a hill. The well is also still nearby and was recently restored as a place of pilgrimage and prayer. The ancient cells(or what remained of them) were partially uncovered back in the 1990s during the excavation to build the large new pier(the water level would have been lower back then) so there you are.

Alford, this is a great character shot with good composition, color, light...and the priceless expression. The only thing I would suggest is to warm it up just a little to let in the ambient light so the color and shadow depths are truer to life. IYou were there, so you know best though. Well done!

Absolutely gorgeous Adam. I love the blue tones and the light dancing upon the water. The wet stones in front pull it all together. I have GOT to get down to those islands.

Nice one, Alford. I like the use of intersecting angles, and perspective. Good contrast levels, and use of reflection. Nice depth and composition. It is a pretty and interesting photo. Very good photodocumentary style presentation. I dare say you could become a voice for the Philippines. Keep it up!

Hi Trevor...I have seen this phenomenon over the Blackwater Estuary from the oyster beds just beyond the seawall at Goldhanger. The red glowing sun, the water as still as glass....and not a whisper of breeze. The sky actually rippled with orange light as the sun transitioned to darkness....it was almost a mystical experience...and left an impression on me. This shot is quiet and powerful in its simplicity. The rays of light and water just work together. No need for anything else. Good shot.

It is like a scene from a film...very subtle earth colors yet rugged terrain with the line of soldiers and their nearby vehicles adding some real impact. One almost feels both alarmed and fascinated at once. Nothing but praise for this one, Francisco. Nice use of perspective too.
