There are many pictures here in TE with a nice building, blue sky, some birds, green tree, mirror of water surface, the best ones also with some human figures doing something... really nice, perfect, but - without any spirit.
This one is not so nice (although not ugly too), but the spirit is there, and it is strong. At least I feel it. And I respct it and consider this picture very good.
Other question, whether I like it, that spirit: I do not. Because I do not like whe the bus stops in front of me and objects half of my world, even if it is only a dumb white fence and factory chimney, I do not like the noise and smell of the bus engine (and I feel and hear it from this pic), I do not like yellow spots, expecially when it is discouraging info on a long time to wait, oversized t-shirt and some stupid warning. And I do not like simplistic large geometric areas of single colour. As well as I clearly do not like this guy - but I love his picture! with his shadow, how sadly funny he is, it is almost beautiful!!
All the visible graphic elements rhyme with each other and create inbalanced, tense harmony, together with something invisible, what nevertheless IS THERE. The proof of its strength is also the fact that it forced somebody to active negative reaction.
BTW., in the name of this site I thank you, Maciek, for the inconspicuous identifier saying Hello! to us - the letters "TE" in the centre.

Nice shot of idyllic landscape with interesting light and clouds, only there is quite disturbing beginners (sorry) mistake: horizon falling down - unnecessary and unjustified tilt. Also good format otherwise, I have just some doubt about the frame. But I could understand that black is very precious colour in Sweden in summer.

Hi Jaap,
Coming back to your portfolio after some time I am astonished how many excellent pictures can take one photographer from a totally flat landscape, and nearly all of them are different and each is pleasing and interesting. In this one it is an amazing minimalist colouring - I would never think that a pale green-grey combination could be so effective. Of course, supported by good balanced rhythmic composition. Only that tilt... ;-) If seriously, it is also an added value of your image, adding dynamic, tension. Impressionists were obsessed by light and elementary colurs and did not understand such things ;-)

Very glad to welcome to TE a newcomer with a good eye and feeling of special atmosphere, it is obvious from this pic. Here you will find friends to help you with some technical shortcomings (here burnt out reflections and background, although have to admit that you managed quite well these extremely difficult light conditions). Light is your main hero here, but usually it is not enough for a photograph, I miss here some point of the picture, not necessarilly a strange object, animal or human figure, it could be as well some rhythm, compositional balance or disbalance, whatever.
All in all you introduced yourwself in an ambitious way, with an interesting picture, so keep posting!

Very well executed classic postcard capture, showing this view maybe in a more attractive way than it is in reality. Even dark areas of the picture on the castle hill have a sense, they add a kind of mystery. This kind of photo tells us amateurs: don’t be afraid of well known conventional views, sometimes we can manage them better than commercial pros.
Medzi nami: uz dlho ma poriadne vytaca, ze hrad je furt osvetleny len z juhu a zapadu - pre pohlad z Rakuska a z fialkoveho udolia/Borika. Obycajnym Bratislavcanom ma stacit temna opacha nad mestom.

Hi, Maciek, I like very much this picture and don’t agree with the previous critical remarks. What was criticised - complexity, mess, colours... - all that is the quality of subject, thus expressed very well.
And why do I like it so much? For the very small detail: the lady’s arm at the door, stretching, likely after a good sleeping. It is the only dynamic element in this sleeping picture, bringing life in it. This arm of a probably nice lady makes the image. Well seen and caught.

Nice houses, merry under the spring blue sky, and charming in a Scandinavian way - as if everything there is built by IKEA. Sorry for a dumb perception of one who has never been there, but I like it this way.
On the other hand, the blue sky is nice and sunshine might be precious in early scandinavian spring, but I would prefer to see also ground, perhaps with some blond kids enjoying the cool sun.

Hi Marcin, this is really a very photogenic object and you found excellent angle, with good light you have got a beautiful picture. I posted in January last year one of the same object, from different PoV and in different light, it was quite succesful and I am proud of it, but yours is better in some aspects. You caught very well full depth of the landscape with cloudy sky and its nice reflections in the water. Well done!

P.S. With a note at least in Polish it would be even better.

Kev, already some time I am collecting my "spiritual forces" to praise this your series, but now I can not refrain from aplauding this beautiful image, rich in content and strong in expression. The bystander not only echoes very well the big poster, but also the two smaller ones, hardly readable (I only managed to read the title Inocence - or maybe Sinocence?!) and I can not see the face on it - is it a kind of clown, or Death? But anyway this sadly smoking lady is something like living average of the two poster faces and these links add to the image some more deep dimensions, which I can not elaborate on now.
I envy you your good luck and aplaud to your artistic mastery with which you are able to catch it.
Bravo!

...or girls meet boys (rather, I think)
Great fun, lot of joy, eruption of positive energy. And also document of the coming matriarchy era. Really, Kev, once you selected from more captures this one, where girls are positively dominating, and I guess not only because they are more nice, photogenic; where girls have flying hair, big smiles/laughter, and the boys’ reply are only their legs merrily up (very nice harmonious reply in terms of photography, BTW) - all this is not only by chance, it is evidence of some spirit of our time. Speculation? OK, but the same speculation is applicable to too many phenomena around us. I am extremely happy with it. Girls are much better than us in all aspects, so I hope their dominancy would mark new better times we are approaching. These very pleasant thoughts were inspired by your picture, Kev. But I love it without (or before) my speculations, without simple enjoyment would be no inspiration. Thank you for simply nice, clear and joyful picture.
