Privet Uhu,

This youngster in uniform, a mere lad, conveyes a sadness that I associate with the Russian soul. The uniform is mere "window dressing"... I would like to sit down with him and teach him how to drink vodka, when he becomes man enough to split a bottle.

I like this compo!
Here is why: it is very clever to see the harsh angular anchor reflected in the fore in the green sensuous grass in the cracks of the granite...

You caught the green light in the red tower just at the right moment!

Well done!

PS I would do one or two postprocessing tricks... You know how it is... some noice to have a chance to colaborate, wha!

I am in "Southland" where the aboriginals also left testaments to their early presence...

So your shot spoke to me!

I have left a few notes in the WS. Compo is excellent, just some sharpening and contrast suggested

PS My guess is that these petroglyphs are much older than from 1700s...

Eyecatching compo! The way this babe is pointing her camera, the natural line to the ship(s) on the horizon... via the cresting foam...

AND of course it is quite cheeky! Lovely memoir for a Carib vacation... the stuff dreams are made of!

Merline, I think that you should be pleased with the excellent capture of this very warm light.It reminds me a lot of late winter sunsets in Nova Scotia, when the sun is very low and streaks almost paralel to the ground.

I am personally not too worried abt the rooftop. I think we make use of this and do a tighter crop all around... For I find the left and right edges sorta raggedy...

When next I have some time I will post the WS.

Hello Colin,

I have just discovered your gallery via John McLaird's critique! This one stands out for me! I see a petro-hippo < left > here with a kingfisher < right > in stone, eh!!! Perhaps even a second bird...or is that a snake trying to eat the bird...

I would be temped to call this place The Stone(d) Zoo! Or is it me... :-D

Well shot and presented! Thanx for sharing! I live closer to that place than you do... but wil now have to discover it too!

Hello Michele, hoi Merline,

What gorgeous colours in this splendid light!
Colours and sphere remind me a lot of Newfoundland which also has fjords.
Steep slopes, and scree with a wee growth which is sparce due to the harsh climate!

I think you captured this well. The compo is correct.

Small nits, nothing serious. See WS; All steps were done in PICASA2 [ a tool I really like ]:
[I like to see shots where the buildings are plumb, and the water is level < waterpas he! > ]

But joking aside, only small adjustments were done/needed here:
a) straighten; b) sharpen;
c) auto colour; d) auto contrast...



BTW. There was/is NO oversaturation! That's how it is in this kinda light!
