Hi,
well what you dont know and haven't seen are the newly rich black families whose children also have video cameras. go to Johannesburg where there is more wealth and put it to the test. I wonder if you would photo them ?
Sth Africa is having an immense struggle, I lived there during apartheid and can tell you the change is palpable in the air ! The country needs positive press .. pictures of the successes as well as the problems .. there is too much sentimentality in these type of pictures. My family worked hard and some friends gave their lives to rid SA of apartheid ... remember those people when you post these picutres.

I know S. Africa well. I lived there during apartheid, I can say the optimistic atmosphere and the freedom is palpable in the air. If you did not visit before then you are not really qualified to comment as you have .. many people have given their lives and many worked so hard to get to this point.
Of course it's a struggle, it will be for many years. Tourism is a great way of bringing in much needed revenue and helping foriegners understand the huge problems facing all of Africa.
Please dont deride that. Turkey is also a country of many inequalties and sells anything to a tourist,
but I wouldn't dream of criticising it for this.

I am puzzled by this image in as much as the left hand girl wears what seems to me a very
sado-masochistic costume .. but I wonder whether she wears it in a muddled Western European
fashion statement or perhaps it is really her "thing". The mouth mask is extraordinary, both fascinating and horrible.

I love this shot !
Welbeck street is such a grand and reserved street in a very expensive area (2 bedroom flats around £600,000 eg).
And this fun, bright girl couldn't care less ! She is more beautiful than all that wealth .. also .....I think she is looking at her nail not given a rude sign, by the way.

Thanks again for pictures of this place .. I'm am now even more keen to visit !
I used to travel weekly by air from Heathrow to Glasgow and would sit on the left and see the Firth
from above, made a promise to go there.
