Probably too "difficult" for a site overwhelmed by postcard photos, Steve (I admit I am somehow co-guilty, as far as my TrekEarth gallery is concerned ;o)).
To me, this photo perfectly conveys the somehow melancholic atmosphere of the Flemish lowlands ("le plat pays"). By focussing on the wire, you preferred to suggest things rather than showing them. This approach enhances the intensity of your picture and makes it "feel" more "real" than a simple postcard of a distant church tower.
Do yourself a favour and offer yourself a large size print of this one! Must be impressive ;o)

Bonjour Pierre,

Et voilà une façon bien originale de nous présenter le paysage condruzien.

Il y a une belle interaction entre le paysage intérieur et le paysage extérieur: tous les deux dégagent une grande paix: l'un par sa symmétrie (château oblige ;o)), l'autre par... et bien, par son aspect condruzien quoi! ;o) D'ailleurs, le relief condruzien n'est-il pas caractérisé par la grande régularité de ses tiges et ses chavées?

Très bonne gestion de la lumière, ce qui n'est pas évident dans ce genre de photo: il y a beaucoup de détail, même dans le paysage derrière les fenêtres.

Bonjour Yves,
Cette chapelle, je l'ai déjà vue maintes fois sur le web (entre autres sur l'intéressant site photographique de Hugues Van Rymenam, www.fugitif.net, que tu connais peut-être), mais cette façon de nous la présenter, "between gray and gold", est réellement captivante. Un été typiquement belge, qui combine des couleurs chaudes avec un magnifique ciel menaçant.
Ta composition, avec ce format carré que j'aime beaucoup, met bien en valeur la chapelle protégée par son écrin d'arbres, tout en donnant aux champs de blé si typiques de la Hesbaye l'importance qui leur revient.

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Il se dégage de cette photo l'atmosphère d'un véritable "road movie". Tous les ingrédients sont là: la route, bien sûr, mais aussi les inévitables panneaux annonçant l'un ou l'autre danger, des paysages vastes, si vastes, et, à l'horizon, la sombre silhouette d'une montagne qui promet bien des aventures.
Le traitement en noir et blanc convient parfaitement à cette atmosphère un peu lugubre, soulignée en particulier par le "presque noir" des montagnes à l'arrière-plan.

This IS beautiful Tomasz. Not only the rays of the sun touching the ground, but also the crooked trees that seem to dance. A picturesque effect.
Personally, I would just have darkend a bit the tones, as to add an enigmatic touch to your photo. Now, the brightness of the colours (see the grass - near to overexposure at some spots) leaves too few space for mystery... And this photo has a potential of mystery, with the smoke.

J'avais plus ou moins le même sentiment que Pierre en agrandissant l'onglet de cette photo: la prédominance du rail flou à l'avant-plan...
Je serai toutefois plus indulgent que Pierre, car je trouve l'idée vraiment très bonne, c'est-à-dire tant le point de vue bas que l'avant-plan flou.
Le problème tient plutôt à un déséquilibre dans la composition, je crois...

The sky too cloudy to have interesting colours? Hmm, a heavy sky can be interesting as well, I think.
Anyway, I like your choice to concentrate on the textures of this field. The strong contrasts make them look intense and beautiful. Black and white was the appropriate choice for this kind of picture.

Hello Tomek,
You achieved an abstract and vibrant composition starting from a daily life scenery. Art definitely is everywhere. You just need the eye to see it.
A photo that could also have worked in black & white, but this colour version is 100% OK for me.
I like how you created a feeling of space, thanks to your POV and the prominent sky. At first sight, the advertising board "popping" into your frame evokes a photo collage.
Unusual and interesting work...

It DOES look impressive, Artesia. Because of the overwhelming scenery, of course, in which the human beings really look small: the sense of scale you are talking about in your note... Another aspect that adds to the impressiveness, is that it looks like a black and white photo (though it obviously isn't - see your photo info: "colour"). Anyway, the combination of dark grey tones and greyish white tones works.
I'm just not convinced about your framing. It "frustrates" me somehow that you didn't (couldn't?) include the top of the mountain. If it was technically impossible to do so, I would have quite severely cropped the top of the photo (by +/- 4 cm), as to only show the "wall of rocks", without any sky or landscape beyond the first mountains to be seen. This would make your photo more coherent (because less "frustrating") and still more impressive, I think.
Anyway, this is just my personal opinion. Feel free to (dis)agree ;o)
