Indeed, very great foto and very touching theme.
In reality chemical war is one of the visible war with visible aftermaths ... What about invisible wars like mental wars, psychiological wars and ideological wars ...

Good story, very good captured photo.
I think, you do not need to worry about your child 's scholar ship.
My daughter knows nothing about my harship at that time, but this year, she is nominated as the best student in Computer Science ( like me ... ) in the Netherlands and got a scholar ship for international summer course in the U.S.
The point is, the fighter within me is transfered to her when she was born ...
I spent 3 years in Nui Ba Den ( Ba Den moutain in Tay Ninh ) and Phuoc - Long rain forest. After days and days learning about the well-defined "War of Ideology", most of us came to the conclusion that "We are the fighters in the well-defined War of Ideology" but without any ... Ideology ! We know , we feel, we think about "War of Ideology" after the war is ended ! That means, we were into the dead like ... Zoombies !
It is called "unknowing state" or "unconciousness" in Buddhism.
I still do not know how to transfer my knowledge from my life to my daughter. Until today, the only thing I could do is slowly build up the Awareness ... ism from Buddhism in her life, so that she could "know" what she is doing and ready to take responsibilities from her handling ...
If she "knows" what she is doing, she could always find her Happiness in the harship of life, I believe ...
The point is, study very hard and get the best result as you could is not ... bad, but Happiness and a successful Life are often nothing to do with ... study !
At some points in my life, I feel sorry that I did learn ... to much - 2 equvalent of BA today, and one MS - and get ... nothing from that. And if I could, I am always ready to get some more degrees - a few PHD's for examples - ...
And many of my friends who are still in Viet Nam today, and who did get degree from University of Technololy Phu Tho, Saigon, are still ... jobless ! ...
The conclusion is, hardship of Life is nothing in relation to mental or psychological hardship ...
But preparing the next generation for the Reality of Life is truly not an easy task ...
