This is a typical Qingdao’s old apartment building. Most of them built in 1960’s to 70’s. Usually, there are about 100 to 300 apartments inside, following the industrial house development style of Soviet union.

There are some details I'd like to clarify

Firstly, There is no bathroom at all in the building. Most of them even don’t have water supply inside the individual apartment. Usually, public toilets are located near the staircase on each level, so does the water basin and drain. Residents carry their daily supply of fresh water from the public area back home, and women hanging around there in the afternoon doing their laundries. Usually people who lives in this kind of building use public bathhouse.

Secondly, these buildings have no kitchen, therefore people cook the meals in public corridor, which leaves a very narrow space for the neighbours to go through.

Finally, the individual apartment area varies from 14 sq.m (one room), to 25 ~ 30 sq.m (2 rooms).

It is such a reminiscent photo for me, I was brought up in one of those buildings. I can still remember my neighbours’ names, the smell of their cooking, the gossips at the public washing area and the fights with the kids....

very nice composition, the concrete carpark shows the city character. You have capture the moment while there is no cars inside the carpark, therefore a place more like a city desert, deadly silence after a storm of traffic...
well done!

You capture the essence of a building, two types of colligated wall with louver window and small piece of spiral staircase. I am intrigued by the way you display the rectangular shapes and lines, wonderful photo ! well done.

I had never seen so many policemen play group hide and seek, I can almost imagine a group of korean gangsters facing the wall with blind folds counting '10,9,8,...' on the other side of the road... this photo really cracked me up, well done !!!
