Hi Kath,

Both shots are impressive, especially when you managed to capture the images at 1/100th second shutter speed, with these little guys that's not easy to do. Pre-focusing on a point is a good way to handle a situation like this as the auto focus on your camera (even in servo mode) would be limited by the ability of the lens. I took a shot of my dog once here and could only achieve that by setting the focus on a point before he got there.

I agree with this being your main post due to the points you mention, background and colour although the WS image has good detail on the birds body.
